Tasty - Gives You A Good Feeling Afterwards

Nice beer and you do feel pretty good after drinking it. A bit pricey though

Relaxing stuff

Really nice in the evening to have a beer without feeling guilty about drinking booze. Those adaptogens or whatever they are do a good job.

I've recently started experimenting with alcohol free beer options. This has been hands down the best tasting option to date. Both the lager and IPA are very refreshing, my personal preference is the IPA. The adaptogen ingredients certainly make a subtle difference feeling me more relaxed. Best thing is that there is alcohol effect the next day and only 45-50 calories a serving.

Impressed!

I bought a crate of these for me and my one other sober friend to test out whilst we forayed into experiencing a hen party weekend sober! The taste is intriguing, though not bad at all! Placebo effect or not I definitely felt pretty chill and wonderfully talkative, and even better I was perky and bright the next morning, which is a win in my books. My friend also enjoyed the beverages. Looks like we are going to have to trial it in some more scenarios. Would love to see this on tap in pubs!

Actually works

Really sceptical about this sort of thing but definitely relaxes you and tastes pretty much exactly like an alcoholic beer.

[ Our mood-boosting adaptogens ]

Unwind Blend

Our Unwind Blend™ utilises the power of adaptogens: compounds derived from natural substances that are well proven to elicit relaxation in the user. The best known adaptogen is CBD but this is far less studied and appears to be less powerful that the three we use in our blend.

We use a combination of L-Theanine [from green tea leaves], Ashwagangha Root [a shrub that grows in India] and Lion’s Mane [an adaptogenic mushroom] to promote calm and relieve social anxiety, without affecting the flavour of our beer.

The blend is formulated with adaptogens that interact with your brain in a different way and are designed to be complimentary to each other so the overall effect is greater than the sum of their parts.

L-theanine is an amino acid found naturally in tea leaves and certain types of mushrooms.

It can promote relaxation and reduce stress through a number of ways, including increasing alpha waves, promoting dopamine and serotonin production, interacting with excitatory glutamate receptors and reducing cortisol levels. It does this without a sedative effect, unlike alcohol.

Lion's mane is a type of edible mushroom that is native to North America, Europe, and Asia. It is known for its distinctive appearance, with long, white spines that resemble the mane of a lion. Lion's mane mushroom is often used as a natural supplement and is thought to have a number of potential health benefits.

It can help promote a sense of calm and reduce stress levels by increasing the production of nerve growth factor and also, potentially, by reducing inflammation in the body.

Ashwagandha is an root that has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It is native to India and is commonly used to help reduce stress and anxiety. It works by reducing the levels of Cortisol, the stress hormone, in your brain, resulting in reduced levels of anxiety. It may also interact with the neurotransmitter GABA to promote relaxation.

Adaptogens are plants and mushrooms that have been well studied to elicit powerful effects on your body's response to stress, anxiety, fatigue and overall wellbeing. The most well known adaptogen is CBD but the compounds we use seem to have more robust scientific evidence supporting their mood-boosting properties.

You can take adaptogens by adding them to food or beverages or take them as tinctures. Adaptogens bring your body back to a steady balance by managing both physical and mental stressors.

Our Unwind Blend uses a combination of three complimentary adaptogens for a more pronounced effect.

Whilst it is possible that taking the pure forms of these adaptogens can lead to some adverse gastric effects, the concentration in Collider is not high enough to elicit this sort of response. Having said this, everyone is different, so if you do feel any adverse side effects then we would recommend you to stop drinking until symptoms pass and seek help from a medical professional should symptoms persist.

No. Collider is classed as ‘alcohol free’ in Europe and the UK. Your body metabolises the alcohol more quickly that it can build up in your bloodstream your blood alcohol level does not rise.

A piece of bread and a ripe banana contain more alcohol than a bottle or can of Collider.

Yes. Your liver metabolizes the alcohol present in the beer before it can move into the bloodstream, therefore your alcohol blood level does not rise.

The adaptogens themselves are not sedatives and therefore do not inhibit your ability to process information or affect your reaction times. If anything, the studies show that they promote increased reaction times and increased ability to concentrate on tasks. There is currently no legislation prohibiting driving when consuming any of our adaptogens.

We do not pay alcohol duty on the beer we produce. However, we incur other significant costs that are greater than this saving:

1. Small batch- we still produce in smaller craft batches, which does cost more.

2. Non-alcoholic- alcohol free beer is actually more expensive to produce than alcoholic as there are extra processes included in the brew.

3. Adaptogens- lion's mane, l-theanine and ashwagandha are not the cheapest ingredients so this is the cost that other non-alcoholic beers will not have to contend with and is something that we have to pass on.

We do think that Collider does justify its price, however, both in terms of quality of beer and the added benefit that the adaptogens bring to your mood.

There are between 45 and 50 Kcal in a bottle or can of collider, depending on the type of beer.

A large proportion of the calories in an alcoholic beer is the alcohol itself, which means Collider contains about a third of the calories of a regular beer.

The alcohol levels are low enough that it should be safe to drink when pregnant. There is also no evidence to suggest that the Adaptogens contained within our products have any negative impact on those who are pregnant.

Having said this, always consult your GP or a medical professional for advice.

Yes. There are no animal products used in the production of Collider.

No. Collider contains malted barley and wheat, which contains gluten.

Religious beliefs and practices vary and there is not a clear answer to this question. On the one hand, Collider does not intoxicate you. On the other, it does contain trace amounts of alcohol (but so do items like bananas and bread, which are considered halal). Our process is very similar to Kombucha, which is widely considered halal, as the alcohol is a by-product of the natural fermentation process and that fermentation process is never designed to create enough alcohol to intoxicate.

With regards to the adaptogens, these do not have an intoxicating effect (although the definition of intoxication is broad) and can be considered more of a health supplement. CBD, for instance, is considered halal. We would recommend anyone considering trying Collider to do their own research on this subject however.
